RedDeerGames will release two video games based on the legendary Polish comics „Kayko and Kokosh”. Slavic superheroes will conquer the world!

RedDeerGames, a Polish studio that creates and publishes video games, has partnered with Janusz Christa’s „Kreska” Foundation. The agreement signed today gives RedDeerGames exclusive rights to release two games set in the universe known from the „Kayko and Kokosh” comics on the Nintendo Switch console.

COOPERATION WITH THE JANUSZ CHRISTA „KRESKA” FOUNDATION
The games will be created in cooperation with the Foundation, to reflect the spirit of the adventures of the brave Slavs as faithfully as possible. RedDeerGames plans to release them at the turn of 2021 and 2022.
 
– I’m impressed by the first projects sent by RedDeerGames even at the stage of contract negotiations. It is also important for us, as the Foundation, that we will be able to promote my grandfather’s comic book „Kayko and Kokosh” to fans of games on Nintendo Switch –  says Paulina Christa, president of the Kreska Foundation named after Janusz Christa, heir and granddaughter of Janusz Christa.

After the contracts for the animated series „Kayko and Kokosh”, which can now be watched on Netflix, the continuation of the cult series „Kayko and Kokosh New Adventures and the integrals, which are being prepared by Egmont, or the musical which is to premiere in September this year at the Syrena Theatre in Warsaw” Paulina Christa lists this as a key project for the Foundation.

– I hope that thanks to it we will not only enter the world market with the „Kayko and Kokosh” brand, but, above all, we will dynamically attract new fans of Polish comics from other countries. Next year we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kayko and Kokosh, and this cooperation will allow us to build an even bigger universe of Janusz Christy’s Slavic warriors – she adds.

KAYKO AND KOKOSH – SLAVIC SUPERHEROES
Kayko and Kokosh debuted in comic books written by Janusz Christy in the 1970s and quickly gained great popularity in Poland. Recently, the global audience could watch them in an animated series available on the Netflix streaming platform.
 
The comic is often referred to as Polish „Asterix and Obelix”, but its origins as „Kajtek and Koko” (the ancestors of Kayko and Kokosh) dates back to the 1950s, before René Goscinny’s work.
 
The series tells the adventures of two Slavic warriors. It’s aimed at children, but also loved by adults, full of humour and references to Slavic traditions. It has gained a cult following in Poland; it is the absolute foundation of Polish comics.
 
– Cooperation with Janusz Christa’s Kreska Foundation is an honor and a great pleasure. Our mission is clear: to create games that comic book fans will love, but also to present these characters and the universe to a global audience. We believe that Kayko and Kokosh deserve it – says Michał M. Lisiecki, CEO of RedDeerGames.
 
– We are glad that Netflix also sees this potential. We are sure that thanks to our competences in promoting and selling games on many world markets we will be able to successfully achieve this goal – he adds.
 
For now, it remains a mystery which genres the games will belong to. The developers only reveal that they will use the experience they gained while working on 7 Horizons – a comic arcade game for PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, as well as Series S|X.

ATTENTION! CYBER BANK HAS JUST BEEN HACKED! We know the winners of two Cyber Protocol contests

The old-school arcade game Cyber Protocol has never been so intense. In December, the best of the best compete with each other, battling through deadly levels and trying to get the highest high score—and $1000! Meanwhile, those who wanted to share their impressions could win a PlayStation 5.

We thank all participants for their engagement! Below is the list of winners and a little surprise.

Wondering what the first impression of Cyber Protocol players was? Now you can find them on Twitter under the hashtag #CyberProtocolWOW.

In this contest we asked players to complete the first level of Cyber Protocol and tweet the first words that came to mind after finishing it. The prize was a PlayStation 5.

#HighScore in Cyber Protocol

The second contest was inspired by the old days—like the whole game—where high scores actually mattered. We decided to bring back the tradition and reward the best players in the world with cash prizes.

To take part in the contest, you had to write on Twitter or Facebook a post „I’m competing for the #highScore in Cyber Protocol game” and play in the „TOP 20 Global Ranking” mode.

The competition ended on December 31, 2020 at 23:59 GMT.

We bring you the transcript of an interview with the winner of the #HighScore in Cyber Protocol contest.

BARTEK, REDDEERGAMES: How many hours have you played Cyber Protocol in total?

VSIMCO: This is actually a tough question to answer since I played the game on all the platforms it has released on (Xbox One, Switch, Steam). Xbox One ~ 50 hours (first version I played), Switch ~ 4 hours (have not beaten it yet), Steam ~ 460 hours (though I guess leaving arcade mode paused overnight would have that effect).

After such time you can probably judge it fairly. What do you think is the best thing about Cyber Protocol?

My favorite part of Cyber Protocol is definitely the interesting mazes – and finding the optimal path through those mazes. 

A lot of logical puzzles require mostly just a lot of thinking. Cyber Protocol adds the challenge of timing in combination with the logical deduction needed to solve the mazes which gives it a unique flare. 

There are similar games to Cyber Protocol out there – Cyber Protocol keeps things relatively simple for the player (you go up, down, right, left), the complexity and variation is all external  to the player and shows up in the puzzle itself – I liked that simplicity – you do not need anything external to the game itself to solve a puzzle. 

The combination of logical thinking, arcade timing, and no external knowledge needed are the best things about Cyber Protocol.  

Did you plan to win 1000$?

No. My goal for the Steam version was to be able to beat the game in less than <10 lives (23 lives for the winning run) – I did not achieve that goal – but will probably come back to the game. The longest I went without dying was actually around 50 stages.

Around December I thought I had a good chance of winning the competition so my focus went from not dying to finding consistent speed run paths through the game. Consistency is important in a run which is going to last 2-3 hours going through 100 levels where one small mistake could kill you – and using checkpoints takes up time which eats up your score. 

How will you spend 1000 dollars?

Upgrading my gaming setup.
